The school holds a unique place in the history of South Australia. In 2007 the school celebrated 130 years of public education and a commemorative cairn was erected at the entrance off Main Road to honour this achievement. In the same year the redevelopment of the school was officially completed.

The school shares a strong relationship with the township of Willunga sharing the use of its oval and gymnasium and the school is an active participant in the annual Almond Blossom Festival.
